Sexual violence

indicates (a) sexual act(s) without the consent of the recipient or (b) if the recipient is incapable of consenting. It is a broad term that includes sexual assault, sexual abuse and other types of sexual violence. Sexual assault is usually used to refer to unwanted sexual touching, attempted rape or rape (“Towards gender equality in the cultural and creative sectors”, report of the OMC (open method of coordination) working group of member states’ experts, June 2021).
