Art library service

The main objective of the Art library service is to contribute to the enrichment and enhancement of the contemporary heritage of the State. On behalf of the State, the Art library service acquires works of art to enrich the collection of the Ministry of Culture, which it preserves and makes available to the various ministries and public administrations.

In addition, the Art library service develops and implements a policy of support for public art commissions in the field of the visual arts. Its mission is therefore to inform and support public commissioners in the development of a public commission project.

Artistic creation and promotion service

This service is made up of five separate units: visual arts, architecture, design and crafts; dance film; literature and publishing; music and theatre. The missions of these units are similar, although they refer to different areas of cultural heritage.

The mission of these services is therefore to advise the minister responsible for culture in the respective fields, to develop and evaluate the ministry's action in these fields, and to manage the ministry's relations with its partners, to inform and advise and to maintain an ongoing dialogue with artists and cultural actors.

In addition, the units are responsible for developing and implementing strategies to promote the various artistic sectors as well as measures to promote artistic creation. They participate in the updating or drafting of legislative texts and represent the ministry in various committees, commissions, working groups and boards.

Finally, the various units coordinate the general activities and administrative management of the cultural sector concerned, monitor the agreements concluded by the State with the operators in their field and advise the Minister on applications for subsidies.
